Susan Sandall MChS, DPodM, HPC Registered Podiatrist (Local Anaesthetics) Susan has a special interest in Podiatric Biomechanics and Paediatric Biomechanics.
In October 2005 Susan set up Brightwell Clinic where she is the Clinical Director. Susan gained accreditation for the Clinic with the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. She has evolved a team around her who have an interest in treating people's injuries especially in motion.
Susan trained at the Chelsea School of Chiropody for three years enabling her to become am Member of the Society of Chiropodist and a State Registered Chiropodist. Since then the Society has become the Society of Chiropodist and Podiatrist and the regulatory body has recently become the Health Professions Council (HPC).
Susan has extensive experience in managing many foot and foot-related conditions. She worked in the NHS for 10 years, specialising in Diabetic and rheumatoid foot care. Having a family required her to find more flexible working times so she moved into the private sector.
For the last 27 years Susan has worked within musculoskeletal teams, spending many years working with Dr Peter Thomas Sports Injury Physician at the Reading Clinic and at BUPA Wellness when it took over that clinic.
Susan has not only treated painful nails, corns calluses and veruccae pedis but has been treating gait related problems using orthotic therapy enabling the treatment of symptoms resulting from lower limb overuse injuries of the feet ankles knees hips low back pain and even headache and jaw pain. She has gained much insight into treating patients using this therapy and a team approach to injuries in general.
Susan has trained to use Local Anaesthetics and to carry out total and partial nail avulsion under local anaesthetics and is licensed to do this work.
Susan attends many courses each year keeping up with the continuing professional development (CPD). She was Chairman of the Berkshire State registered Chiropodists and Podiatrists Association for 8 years. Susan has had extensive training in the field of Biomechanics which is a specialty of hers available to patients of any age with many diverse injuries resulting from overuse.
More recently she has been published in Ankle and Foot International (March 2006) with Kathleen Reilly, MSc, the title of the article being 'Influences of Foot Characteristics on the site of Lower Limb osteoarthritis.'
Susan will continue in her quest to help reduce symptoms and pain, increase her patient's understanding of injuries so as to try and keep them in motion.
