Physiotherapy

What does Physiotherapy treatment involve?

Physiotherapists work on the musculo skeletal system which consists of bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons. Manual Skills such as joint mobilisations, facilitation of muscle work, soft tissue mobilisations as well as graded personalised exercise regimes are the mainstay of physiotherapy.

Gait analysis and correction, postural assessment and training are also useful tools.

In addition ice, heat and ultrasound therapy can be employed for immediate pain relief and reduction in swelling. Taping to reduce mobility temporarily to allow healing to take place may also play a part in the treatment programme. Physiotherapy utilises physical treatments for musculo skeletal problems.
