Treating Symptoms and Cause
Treating the symptoms or recognising the root cause of the problem.
Patients seek medical assistance very often because they undergo or suffer pain whilst performing a task such as walking, lifting, running or are generally feeling 'under the weather' and not feeling able to perform as they expect.
It is relief from the pain or discomfort that is the immediate concern of the patient. That relief can be obtained by appropriate therapy but all too often the factors that caused the pain in the first instance may re-occur with a consequent return of the pain or discomfort.
At Brightwell Clinic, whilst seeking to give that early relief from the symptoms of the injury or problem the practitioners are keen to try and resolve the underlying cause, and work together as a team for such purpose.
Many people taking part in sporting activity suffer from overuse injuries. These may be the result of overusing or expecting too much from what is otherwise a healthy part of the body or where the underlying particular part of the body is not functioning as well as it might. Finding out the cause is as important in one case as it is in the other. Whilst the treatment of the presented injury may well be the same, the treatment plan to deal with the underlying cause may be quite different and involve a different practitioner.
As the philosophy of the Brightwell Clinic is to treat the body in motion the practitioners aim to establish the underlying cause of a complaint so as to be able to direct the team resources of the Brightwell Clinic to finding the optimum way of keeping the body in motion.
